Cookie Policy
01 What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies — local storage, session storage, and pixels — which we refer to collectively as "cookies" in this policy. Cookies can be first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by a provider we use), and either session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (kept for a set period).
02 Why we use them
We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, keep the service secure, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We keep non-essential cookies to a minimum.
03 Categories we use
Strictly necessary
Required for the site to function — authentication, security, load balancing, and remembering your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off and do not require consent.
Preferences
Remember choices such as theme or board layout to personalize your experience.
Analytics / performance
Help us understand aggregate usage — which pages are visited and how the service performs — so we can improve it. Set only with your consent where required.
Marketing
We currently do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and request consent before setting them.
04 Cookies at a glance
| Cookie / technology | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session / auth token | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in and protects your session | Session – up to 30 days |
| Security / CSRF | Strictly necessary | Protects against cross-site request forgery | Session |
| cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Remembers your cookie preferences | 6 – 12 months |
| Theme / layout | Preferences | Remembers display settings such as theme | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Analytics | Aggregate, privacy-respecting usage measurement | Up to 13 months |
This table is representative; the exact cookies set may vary by feature and provider. Your browser's developer tools will show the cookies present on any given page.
05 Consent & the ePrivacy rules
Where EU/UK rules apply, we set non-essential cookies (preferences, analytics) only after you give consent, and we make it as easy to refuse as to accept. Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent because the service cannot work without them. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the controls described below.
06 How to control cookies
- Consent controls — use the cookie settings presented on the site to accept or refuse non-essential categories, and to change your choice later;
- Browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies; note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the service;
- Provider opt-outs — where third-party analytics are used, you can opt out via the provider's own tools.
07 Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out of sale/sharing where applicable. Because there is no common industry standard for "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals, we treat a recognized GPC signal as your preference and otherwise respond as described in our Privacy Policy.
08 Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
